Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) When a human becomes an avatar, the body in virtual reality space, and moves, the range that he or she can move in is limited by the physical limitation of real space. Though the way to widen the range of movement is to deform the avatar, the body sensation will be lost if the avatar is just deformed. Therefore, the purpose in this study is to design an avatar that deforms but makes the body sensation not to be lost. We built the system to become an avatar that mimics human motions in virtual reality space and evaluated how body sensation changed by deforming arms with parameters of displacement, velocity and acceleration. The result was that the ways to deform with displacement or acceleration were effective.
