Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Binocular rivalry is a phenomenon in which the perception alters when different images are presented to two eyes. Despite this phenomenon has been investigated for a long time, we have not resolved the issue of when and where in the brain rivalry occurs. In this study, we used competitive moving stimuli in which two random dot patterns drifted to opposite directions to investigate when the difference between competitive and its control cooperative stimuli affects both optokinetic eye-movements and electroencephalograms. We analyzed optokinetic eye-movements, event-related potentials and event-related synchronizations (ERSs) / desynchronizations (ERDs) for comparing the difference for competitive and cooperative stimuli. It was found that significant differences in optokinetic eye-movements were observed after 270ms. In addition, significant differences in ERSs/ERDs at 8-13Hz band were observed after 830ms.
