Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | A color-singleton target in multiple distractors is visually salient. The degree of salience depends not only on color contrast between target and distractors but also on luminance contrast of individual elements against background. To combine these contrasts, we made two types of search arrays so that they had quite different visual properties but elicited similar saccadic reaction times (i.e. similar saliency). We recorded the neuronal activity from the posterior parietal cortex of monkeys performing visual search using these arrays and found that the target selection times differed in spite of the similarity of target saliency. |
