Performance Evaluation Considering Cost of Relay Station for Multi-Hop Cellular System

Abstract(in English) One of the issues of the next generation cellular systems is improvement of cell-edge throughput performance. Recently, in order to improve the cell-edge throughput performance and to extend the coverage area, a relaying transmission using relay stations is becoming a promising technique. The cell-edge throughput performance degrades, because the signal from base station is weak due to the large path-loss. By using relay transmission,cell-edge throughput is improved because reducing the path-loss. The relay station mitigates the cost relative to the base station because of its simple structure. Thus, the performance evaluation considering relay station cost is important in terms of whether we introduce RS to cellular systems or not. In the traditional research of considering cost in relay system, the main stream is evaluation of extending the cellular coverage area by adding a cost. However, the evaluation model is difficult to evaluate the performance considering cost. In this paper, we propose an evaluation model considering cost of relay station to evaluate the total performance.
