Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) For multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications, the optimal signal detection is the maximum likelihood detection (MLD). Unfortunately, the computational complexity of MLD is prohibitive when the modulation order and the number of transmit antennas are large. Thus, suboptimal signal detection algorithms that aim to reduce the complexity while keeping almost the same bit error rate as MLD have been studied. This report describes that the conventional signal detection algorithms can be mainly classified into non-linear and linear detection types, and their typical algorithms are detailed. In addition, a new signal detection algorithm is explained. This algorithm sets a linear detection result to the starting point, and searches for signal candidates in multi-dimensions of the noise enhancement from which the linear detection suffers from. Computer simulations demonstrate that this algorithm can achieve an excellent trade-off between bit error rate and computational complexity.
