Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Carrier aggregation(CA), in which component carriers (CCs) that have up to 20MHz bandwidth are bundled, has been adopted in order to ensure wide bandwidth for high-speed data communications such as 1Gbit/s in Long-Term Evolution (LTE) - Advanced. In the specification of CA for LTE Rel.10, the modulation and coding scheme (MCS) and a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) entity is controlled with respect to each CC independently in order to maintain the backward compatibility with LTE Rel.8. However, the maximum value of the frequency diversity gain obtained by the channel encoding will be limited by the bandwidth of each CC. In this paper, we propose an effective precoding operation called cross-carrier precoding (CCP), in which the precoding operation is executed across CCs transmitted on different frequency bands. By applying CCP, the frequency diversity gain due to the different characteristics of the propagation channel in each frequency band can be obtained and this results in improving the transmission performance of CA.
