Abstract(in English) This paper proposes an efficient Media Access Control(MAC) protocol for IEEE802.11 Wireless LAN (WLAN) systems. The proposed scheme enables to coexist with conventional Distributed Coordinated Function (DCF). In IEEE802.11 standard, centralized control scheme such as Point Coordination Function (PCF) is able to obtain high throughput compared to DCF. However, PCF prohibits DCF transmission during its Contention Free Period (CFP) because of Network Allocation Vector (NAV). Therefore, DCF and PCF have a serious problem of coexistence mechanism. To solve this problem, proposed scheme employs a centralized control approach realized by using fixed backoff. Therefore, the proposed scheme indicates coexistence mechanism, which permits the collision between the proposed scheme and DCF transmissions. We describe that the proposed scheme enables coexistence performance between the proposed scheme and DCF. Moreover, the proposed scheme achieves throughput characteristic that is approximately 1.8 times better than conventional DCF.
