New Design Method of Parallel-Coupled Transmission Line Resonator Filters

Abstract(in English) In this paper, a novel equal-ripple Chebyshev type characteristic function of the parallel-coupled transmission line resonator filter is proposed, which makes the design of the filter possible to obtain N+2 reflection zeros in its passband when N transmission line resonators are used. Moreover, shortcomings associated with conventional design methods of this type of filters, like the reduction of passband bandwidth and the unequal passband ripples, are avoided by the method of this paper. A design example using five parallel-coupled transmission line resonators is provided, and the filter responses obtained by both a circuit simulator and an electromagnetic simulator validate the suggested theory and design method. Significant improvements in the filtering characteristics of the filter designed using the current method over conventional ones are also clearly shown by the results given in the paper.
