Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Facial paralysis, also named Bell's palsy, is an acute idiopathic paralysis of the muscles of facial expression. Quantitative analysis of this condition has great significance for medical diagnosis and treatment. In this paper, we present a dynamic facial expression database which includes not only patients with facial paralysis but also healthy volunteers and would be invaluable for method evaluation in the research on digital facial paralysis analysis. With the constructed database, we propose an approach of quantitatively analyzing facial paralysis using facial feature points. The facial symmetry is investigated and results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
