Resonant Characteristic Analysis of a New Three-Mode Resonator Consisting of Slot-Loaded Parallel Coupled Microstrip Lines and Its Filter Application

Abstract(in English) This paper presents the detailed investigation on resonant-mode behavior of a new three-mode resonator, which consists of parallel-coupled microstrip lines embedded with a slotline. Electric-field distributions and modal resonant frequencies of three modes are analyzed by using an eigen-mode analysis of an electromagnetic simulator. Based on the results, a very compact multipole bandpass filter was developed and its circuit model composed of multiple paths in parallel to input/output ports was also established, thereby clarifying the mechanism of the generation of transmission zeros. The developed filter has three reflection zeros in the passband and a wide stopband property as well as four transmission zeros. The effectiveness of the proposed three-mode resonator is validated through the comparison of the frequency characteristics between the simulated and measured results.
