Analysis of Hairpin-Shaped Coupled-Line Resonator and Design of Miniaturized Microstrip Lowpass Filters

Abstract(in English) In this paper, a compact hairpin-shaped coupled-line resonator is represented and analyzed first by using a coupled transmission line circuit. Then the lumped-element equivalent circuit of the resonator is derived, from which the mechanisms of the transmission zeros and reflection zeros of the resonator are investigated, and close-form formulas are derived for determining the frequencies at which the reflection zero, the transmission zeros, and the 3dB cutoff occur. Three lowpass filters are designed with different combinations of the assigned frequencies of the reflection zero, the transmission zeros, and the 3dB cutoff frequency, and the filter responses verify well the derived design formulas.
