Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Most of systems developed to prevent inattentive driving utilize a visible light camera with various processing algorithms to detect face-direction. From the viewpoint of the whole system cost including, they are not suitable for inexpensive cars which suffer a large part of accidents rather than luxurious ones. CalsonicKansei Co. is developing a novel low-cost system of detect face-direction using an infrared laser/camera, relatively simple calculation and a cost efficient FPGA. Here, Impulse C is introduced to reduce developing cost and improve the flexibility. Its high-level synthesis tool for FPGA automatically generates RTL through standard ANSI-C. However, its optimization functions to balance the speed and area are not enough especially for automatic reuse and share the resources including registers, function units and modules. In this paper, we introduce reuse/share technique on Impulse C code and evaluate it using the face-direction detection algorithm for FPGA.
