Tutorial on Coordinated Multi-point Transmission/Reception Techniques for LTE-Advanced

Abstract(in English) In the 3^ Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), discussion is ongoing for standardization of Long Term Evolution (LTE) -Advanced specifications. In particular, physical layer specifications for Release-10 have been standardized and feasibility studies for future Release are started. In this tutorial lecture, as one of the important feature for the future Release, Coordinated multi-point (CoMP) transmission/reception techniques are explained, which have been investigated as multi-cell MIMO techniques for LTE-Advanced. As explanation for network structure for LTE-Advanced, we show several types of transmission/reception points and interferences between them. Accordingly we explain transmission techniques for coordinated transmission and precoding scheme, candidate schemes for feedback of channel state information, potential measurement scheme at terminal side and reference signal design for those, and CoMP techniques in conjunction with enhanced inter-cell interference coordination, respectively.
