Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The planning of intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) is to find a solution that optimizes an objective function w.r.t. radiation beams. Although Newton's method is a powerful solving tool, it needs a huge computational cost to compute the Hessian matrix for an objective function and its inverse matrix every iteration. In this report, we proposed a novel optimization method for a dose-distribution-based objective function using a continuous-time dynamical system. The proposed method yields not only the dramatical reduction of a computational cost but also no production of a solution with an unphysical, negative beam coefficient in solving IMRT planning problems. Experimental results also showed that it could find a quasi-optimal solution.
