Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper introduces hot topics of latest and innovative technologies regarding optical access systems reported on OFC/NFOEC 2011 which was held in Los Angels, CA during Mar. 6-10, 2011. In the PON system related technologies as the major technique in the optical access systems, this year focused on new PON technologies of OFDMA-PON, Coherent-PON, WDM-PON and OCDMA-PON for next-generation hi-speed post 10Gb/s PON systems of NG-PON2, following with the most matured access system technology of TDM-PON. A OFDMA-PON system supported by a progress of the recent digital coherent technology has shown a bidirectional 1.2Tb/s system for the world's first "Terabit-based PON", as top the list of the optical access system categories.
