Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Expanding exiting submarine cable systems beyond their original capacities by replacing the existing 10Gb/s technologies with newly developed 40Gb/s technologies is essential for economical reasons. 40Gb/s DQPSK technology is one way to increase the capacity. On the other hand, it is also known that 40Gb/s signals are very sensitive to fiber nonlinear effects in long haul systems. In addition, it has been reported that co-propagation with 10Gb/s signals causes degradation of the performance of 40Gb/s signals. In this paper, we reported an experimental study of the transmission performance of 40Gb/s DQPSK signals co-propagation with 10Gb/s signals over legacy long-haul non-dispersion-slope-matched fibers.
