Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A method that automatically controls the smoothness of a smoothed classification error count loss using Parzen estimation over the misclassification measure was successfully applied to traditional Minimum Classification Error (MCE) training using the functional-margin-based misclassification measure. In this study, we investigate the effectiveness of this automatic control method in the recent MCE framework using the geometric-margin-based misclassification measure. Through systematic experiments, we demonstrate that the method efficiently achieves high classification power under a wide range of control conditions. Moreover, based on mathematical analysis, we show that the application directly relates the loss of smoothness control to the control of the geometric margin in an original sample space.
