Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, main technical issues and discussion status for solution regarding P1904.1 (SIEPON) which is a standard for the EPON interoperability in service level, which is discussed in IEEE. Formerly, the EPON standards were discussed and specified in IEEE802.3 Working Group which makes Ethernet related standards. However, it was hard to establish the interoperability using the functions only in scope of the WG. Thus, past and current EPON system specifications are consist of each operator and system vender specified requirement. On the other hand, it is fact that the proceeding of former optical access technologies are based on high speed and broadband, but in current trends, new specifications in functional category and rules close to realistic service are becoming more important. The SIEPON was established for this reason in 2010. In this paper, the scope of SIEPON and main technical issues are introduced.
