Standardization Trend of Optical Access in IEEE : IEEE P1904.1 SIEPON Overview

Abstract(in English) In the optical access area, GE-PON, which was developed in IEEE 802.3 WG, has been prevailing especially in Asian countries including Japan and furthermore, 10G-EPON was developed as a next generation optical access technology. However, there is a concern about system-level interoperability on GE-PON and 10G-EPON because GE-PON and 10G-EPON standards mainly focus on physical and data-link layers, not higher layers, hi this paper, we introduce an overview of standardization activities in IEEE P1904.1 (SIEPON) WG which is being developed in order to solve this concern.
