Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The efficient network design of video flow is one of the most important issues for the network career, since it requires both large amount of bandwidth and high quality of service at the same time. Although the efficient network design requires the close analysis of the video flow, only the average traffic on each observation period is available in the actual network management system. Therefore, it is necessary to estimate the behavior of the traffic based on the periodical observation. In this paper, we investigate the estimation of the maximum VOD session number in each observation period by applying M/G/∞ queueing model for the temporal VOD session numbers. We propose the parametric estimation of the service time based on the periodical observation of the VOD traffic. Methods of goodness-of-fit-test and the selection of the suitable service time distributions are also proposed.
