Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Carriers need to predict traffic volumes with high degree of accuracy and decide the appropriate bandwidth capacities based on the traffic volumes. This is why they can construct their IP networks effectively. However, the increased complexities of the telecom market lead to difficulty in the prediction of the future traffic volumes. We start to study robust bandwidth capacity methods. In our study we define robustness as the properties that traffic prediction errors have a small impact on facility costs and traffic sufficiency. This paper shows the evaluation of robust bandwidth capacity design methods in which traffic prediction errors are built-in as modeling factors.
