Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) For audiovisual and haptic interactive IP communications, we propose a media-adaptive buffering scheme which sets the playout buffering time for each media according to its property. We built a system using H.264 video with enhanced quality, voice and haptic media and investigate the effect of the proposed scheme on QoE by subjective experiment. For comparison, we also deal with two conventional schemes of intra-stream synchronization and assess QoE. We also investigate the effect of source skipping which reduces the transmission rate of the haptic media. For the subjective experiment, we designed a task whose output quality of video and haptic media dominates QoE. We assess QoE multidimensionally by the SD method. As a result, we show that we can achieve higher QoE by the proposed scheme than that by the conventional ones.
