Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Linear cryptanalysis is a general known-plaintext attack methodology of a block cipher, which was invented by the author in 1993. In this presentation, we will talk about history of linear cryptanalysis, including its birth, the experimental attack of DES and later public research activities. Also, we will discuss open problems on almost perfect nonlinear functions and almost bent functions, which are strongly motivated by security of an S-Box against differential and linear cryptanalysis.
