Transient properties of multi-layer polymer light-emitting diodes with poly [9,9-dioctylfluorenyl-co-(benzo-thiadiazole)]

Abstract(in English) We investigated the emission characteristics and transient electroluminescence (EL) of multilayer polymer light-emitting diodes (PLEDs) using poly(9,9-dioctyl-fluorene-co-N-(4-butylphenyl)-diphenylamine) (TFB) and poly[(9,9-dioctylfluorenyl-2,7-diyl)-co-(1,4-benzo-{2,1',3}-thiadiazole)](F8BT) as a hole transport layer and an emissive layer, respectively. The maximum luminance and current efficiency of a multilayer PLED with the TFB layer were improved in comparison with that of a device without TFB layer. For a multilayer PLED of ITO/PEDOT:PSS(50nm)/TFB(10nm)/F8BT(50nm)/LiF/Al/Ag, the maximum luminance of 57,000 cd/m^2 and the maximum current efficiency of 6.7 cd/A were achieved. For the device with TFB, the wave form rounding of transient EL was observed. For high voltages, negative capacitance was clearly observed. The negative capacitance results in wave form rounding of current. This wave form rounding of the current density was improved by applying a negative DC bias.
