Abstract(in English) | In the medical field, there exists a serious problem with regard to communications between hospital staff and foreign patients. For example, medical translators cannot provide support in cases in which round-the-clock support is required during hospitalization. We propose a multilingual communication support system called "Petit Translation" between people speaking different languages during hospitalization. There are three features of conversation during hospitalization: (1) use in the entire hospital, (2) use from requested conversation of accuracy to daily conversation and (3) quick correspondence is necessary. Therefore, the system provides three types of system feature: (1) portable system, (2) use of parallel texts and machine translation together and (3) use of easy input methods for retrieval word (voice input and button click input). From the results of the experiment in an assumption of hospitalization scene, we found the following results. (1) The interface by clicking the conversation scene can retrieve the parallel text more efficiently than the paper media. (2) When a questioner appropriately limits the type of reply for a respondent, prompt conversation can tend to become. |
