Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The area of forest land in Japan accounts for about 66% of the country's area and about 40% of them are man-made forests. At present, these main plantations with about 50-years-old trees must be managed by thinning or selection cutting. For that purpose, high-resolution data based on an individual tree crown are necessary. Shinshu University has been studying a 50 kg-class micro-satellite named "KOMOREBI" with 5m spatial resolution for forest remote sensing, especially for observing the tree crowns of Cahmaecyparis obtuse. And it has 8 LEDs for visible light communication(VLC) as a technological demonstration. This paper summarizes the concept and missions of "KOMOREBI".
