Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a novel polarization-tracking-free satellite communication system using Ku-band communication satellites' linear polarizations. In this system, mobile terminals use circular polarization to realize polarization-tracking-free and simplified terminal configuration. In order to output circular polarization from satellite antenna, V and H polarization antennas of the base station output appropriate weight-controlled signals using the proposed GBPF (Grand-Based Polarization-Forming) technique. We fabricated a transmitter with GBPF function to evaluate the polarization forming performances. These results show that the proposed technique achieves XPD (Cross Polarization Discrimination) of over 27dB under RF characteristics fluctuation.
