Quench Detection of Superconducting Wire Using Fiber Bragg Grating

Abstract(in English) Temperature distribution measurement along a superconducting wire was demonstrated to detect quench behavior utilizing wavelength division multiplexed fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs). The FBGs were directly attached on the wire to measure actual wire temperature during the quenching. Quench and its propagation were successfully detected by measuring temperature increase on each grating. It was also possible to evaluate quench propagation velocity, temperature increasing rate and the highest temperature occurred at the superconducting wire.
