Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The widespread deployment of IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN is currently progressing because of the strong demand from mobile terminal, such as iPod or Android terminal. With the growing energy consumption of the wireless LANs, power saving technology in the wireless LANs has become a vital issue. In the wireless LAN, AP (Access Point) always consumes the power regardles of the communication. Therefore, we have proposed the ROD (Radio-On-Demand) wireless LAN, which provides the power saving schemes on the basis of the utilization of the wireless LANs. In this study, we particularly focus on the power saving scheme at the AP, and propose the decentralized association management for ROD wireless LAN. In our scheme, an AP assigns accommodate STAs (Stations) to the new APs when AP determines to move the sleep mode. From simulation studies, we show that the proposed scheme can provide power saving capability.
