On the Evaluation of the Control Mechanism for Client Devices in P802.11 af

抄録(英) Spectrum scarcity has become one of the limiting factors of the evolution of wireless communication systems to incorporating better services and accommodating more users. Cognitive radio system (CRS) is currently considered as an effective approach to resolve this issue. Both macadamia and industry have carried out many theoretical analysis and filed tests to prove the concept. However, the successful commercialization of CRS depends on regional regulations on spectrum usage and standardizations of air interfaces. Regulatory bodies such as the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of the USA has released the rules that allowing unlicensed operation in TV band. Correspondingly, the IEEE 802.11af task group has started standardization for commercial CRS in TV white space (TVWS). New management functions and frames are introduced for CRS to operate following FCC regulations. This paper describes our proposed control mechanism. Simulation results with the parameters set according to the IEEE 802.11af draft are given to show the usefulness of the proposal.
