Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In heterogeneous networks, different types of wireless systems are used simultaneously to enhance the performance. For example, the best access scheme in the local area is selected adaptively in cognitive radio, and furthermore several access schemes are aggregated to enhance the throughput. On the other hand, different types of cells such as a macro cell and femto cells are used simultaneously to enhance the throughput in cellular networks. There are two models for heterogeneous network, i.e. spectrum splitting and spectrum overlapping from the view point of radio resource management. In this paper, we will compare the performance of these two models in an heterogeneous cellular network with one macro cell and several femto cells. Especially, the optimal spectrum splitting ratio and cell range are derived in the spectrum splitting model. While, the importance of interference coordination is pointed out in the spectrum overlapping model.
