Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Aiming to realize a LAN-SAN system that can handle large scale data such as ultra high definition visual data, 172Gbps-optical network interface card (NIC) technology based on optical time division multiplexing (OTDM) is being developed at AIST. In order to allow integration, the NIC is mainly composed of semiconductor devices. We have already confirmed a good transmission performance in a 1 72Gbps-OTDM system, which was constructed using the key semiconductor devices of the NIC. Recently, we improved the long-term stability of the system and demonstrated OTDM transmissions at the Open House 2010 of NHK laboratory. In the demonstration, two channels of uncompressed SHV data were transmitted at 172Gbps.
