Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) At present, a lot of action support methods for the visually handicapped persons are researched. And it becomes possible to detect an obstacle forward by using the supersonic wave etc. However, it has not been examined so much up to now though the platform edge and the descending stairs are very dangerous. In fact, a lot of fatal accidents of the visually handicapped person who falls from the platform to the railway track have occurred up to this day. In this study, it aims at the prevention of accidents that falls from such as the platform edge and the descending stairs. In this paper, we will report the distance measurement results by using multi ultrasonic ranging sensors and by using the stereo-vision. And we will discuss the surrounding situation sensing for visually handicapped person using stereo-vision and ultrasonic ranging sensors.
