Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, network coding (NC) has been popularly applied to wireless networks in order to improve scarce wireless capacity. In wireless LANs, NC can be applied to packet retransmission, in which multiple packets can be equivalently transmitted by a single retransmission trial. In this paper, retransmission based on NC cooperates with IEEE 802.11 EDCA (Enhanced Distributed Channel Access). In EDCA, when network loads are high, QoS degrades even in high priority class. To solve this problem, existing methods improve backoff control, and decrease packet losses caused by collision. However, backoff control cannot prevent packet losses caused by bad channel fading. The proposed method selects a packet to be transmitted and packet group to be encoded into one packet. As a result, total QoS in priority classes is enhanced keeping the difference between different classes. Finally, we show the effectiveness of the proposed method by computer simulation.
