Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Traffic grooming is a technique which can accommodate multiple traffic flows into a single wavelength. The Holding-Time-Aware method is one of the dynamic traffic grooming methods. The HTA method assigns some costs to both physical links and established lightpaths and calculates the optimal path using them. The HTA also introduces the concept of lifetime prolongation of lightpaths. In this concept, when the residual holding times of lightpath is smaller than the holding time of the incoming traffic, lightpath lifetimes will be prolonged enough to carry the incoming traffic. However, the prolongation of lightpath lifetime will cause unnecessary will cause occupation of transmitters and receivers. In this paper, we evaluate the effect of lifetime prolongation and show a problem of the HTA method. In order to cope with this problem, we propose a traffic grooming technique, where the lifetime prolongation is applied depending upon the volume of traffic demands. We also show the effectiveness of our proposed method by simulation experiments.
