Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | An environmentally friendly and energy conserving railway system is expected as a public transportation system. Currently, railways are highly recognized for their standards of safety. These safety levels are achieved from technological developments derived as a result of past accidents. However, to achieve further safety developments without high costs, technological improvements are also demanded. This paper tracks the history of safety-orientated train control systems and discusses the current state of development of sophisticated train control systems. |
