Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We investigate the splice losses characteristics observed in hole-assisted fiber (HAF) intrinsically. We experimentally examine the mode-coupling loss induced by the matching materials penetrating air holes at mechanical splice. We show that satisfactory good splice loss can be obtained by considering refractive index and temperature coefficient of the matching material. We also numerically examine MFD mismatch loss which is induced when air holes are vanished with fusion splice. We show that MFD mismatch loss can be reduced by controlling hole distance taking into account the normalized frequency of core.
