Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Interruption-free optical access line transfer technology enables an in-service optical line to be duplicated by coupling with a detour line so that the in-service line can be partially removed/replaced without interrupting communication services, where an optical path length adjuster is incorporated in the detour line to reduce the path length difference in the dual line to a precision corresponding to the bit length of the communication services. We had prototyped the adjuster based on a free space optics system with fiber collimators whose optical path length can be controlled by a motorized linear stage. In this paper, we proposed a new adjuster, which is compact and capable of hi-speed adjustment, consisting of fiber optics elements including polarization-maintaining optical switches and experimentally verified the validity of the basic performance of the proposed system.
