Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This pilot study classifies questions in a Q&A site, Yahoo!Chiebukuro, by employing Rhetorical Unit Analysis. The RUA is a discourse analysis designed for identifying rhetorical function of messages as well as the degree of de-contextualisation/contextualisation of texts. The findings of the study indicate that by employing the RUA, the questions can be classified into the categories such as the one that demands personal impression of things and the one that demands definitions of phenomena. The study concludes that the classification through the RUA can be a new effective method for extracting information from the Q&A site.
