Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes two evaluation methods for online handwritten characters for a penmanship learning support system. Many people desire to write beautiful characters, as evidenced by the fact that correspondence courses on penmanship are very popular. However, correspondence courses lack real-time feedback because of the time required for sending materials, which are his/her copy and teacher's correct result. Therefore, we have developed a penmanship learning support system that automatically evaluates the characters that a learner writes using a PDA (personal digital assistant). By using this system, the learner can learn penmanship freely without being limited in place and time. We examine the influence that they give learners.
