Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Demands for high-quality real-time streaming services over IP networks are growing rapidly in the fields of broadcasting, medical image sharing and so on. In such fields, network stability should be surely maintained to avoid service degradation by detecting the symptom of network troubles and by recovering them quickly when they occur. This is why we have focused on network monitoring technique. Considering the quality monitoring of streaming services, we have to pay attention to various kinds of network troubles, ranging from network connectivity failure to packet droppings which are caused by lots of different reasons. Furthermore, locating network monitoring devices which fully features all the measurement metrics in a link-by-link manner is highly costly. In this paper, we have proposed an adaptive network monitoring system. It identifies rapidly where and why troubles occur by using accumulated operator's knowledge, and dynamically allocate network measurement resources by narrowing down the measurement network range and layers.
