Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The author is trying to calculate the transient arc voltage and arc current at breaking carbon contacts in an inductive circuit by using carbon arc V-I characteristics. The number of referable carbon arc V-I characteristics is not so many; only Ayrton's equation and Holm's diagram are well-known. Also the author formulated carbon arc V-I characteristics equation originally. Each of these three characteristics is obtained from experimental measurement but in different experimental conditions. For this reason it is necessary to assure the relationship between them. In this report, these three characteristics are compared to each other and their relationship is discussed. As a result, Holm's characteristics and the author's characteristics are assured to supplement Ayrton's equation in a small current and short gap region. It is also assured that the author's equation can be used as a rough approximation of Holm's diagram and, if extrapolated to longer gap length than 1mm, of Ayrton's measurements.
