A New One-time Authentication System Using a Cellular Phone with FeliCa Chip

Abstract(in English) With the widespread of the Internet in recent years, various technical systems have been developed for improving security. Then users have to use many passwords corresponding to the network systems and services. As password setting operation is tedious and cumbersome for users, careful handling is needed to avoid various troubles and damage. This paper presents a new one-time authentication system using a cellular phone with FeliCa chip. If users use this new authentication system, they don't need to put passwords in the system. As the random numbers are written in the free area of FeliCa chip, they are used as the one-time password with the user identification number and serial number of the cellular phone. The experiments of the new authentication prototype system show good results and the possibility of the automatic password setting can be confirmed. Then the initial operation of the new authentication is also confirmed by the initial registration experiments in the cellular phone model changes.
