Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In the POLSAR image analysis, polarimetric scattering property of the target is used for target classification and detection. The three-component or four-component decomposition are well known that uses physical scattering model as typical target classification and detection method. However, there is a problem that negative power occurs in the processing caused by the too big the X-pol. component. The X-pol. is created by wire structure such as edge of man-made structure and branches of vegetation. RCS is quite different from vegetation man-made structure. However, the volume scattering power is evaluated by the X-pol. component caused by vegetation in the traditional methods. Therefore, overestimation of the volume scattering power is generated in urban area where RCS is large. As a result, the classification between vegetation and the building becomes difficult. To resolve this problem, we propose in this paper, a model-based target classification using extended volume scattering model and show analytical result using proposed method by using Pi-SAR data.
