Abstract(in English) Cognitive radio is regarded as a novel approach for improving the spectrum efficiency. When multiple systems having different transmission requirements and priorities coexist in the same spectrum, the cognitive pilot channel (CPC) concept is one of the possible solutions. In the CPC concept, the type of information to be shared is of utmost importance. The SINR threshold is commonly employed as a decision metric, and the wireless systems control their transmit power in order to coexist in the same spectrum. In previous studies, this SINR threshold was fixed for each system. However, most modern wireless communication systems have adaptive modulation and coding (ACM) capabilities. We propose a scheme in which many types of systems can decide their SINR threshold in order to coexist efficiently by cooperating with each other. To make this possible, we introduce two parameters, utility function and step, which are shared through CPC so that the threshold is defined in accordance with the SINR and the priority requirements. This scheme is compared to the scheme which use only the fixed threshold.
