Energy and Resource Saving Activities for Educational Computer System in Hiroshima University

Abstract(in English) We have been operating a new educational computer system which consists of NetBoot clients since September 2010, in Hiroshima University. 1144 clients are a compact and low-power computer, and are widely deployed in the campus, compared with previous system. Additionally, we also reconsidered the support framework for printing services, and have been adopting the charge for it. In this paper, we describe an overview of the new system and an energy and resource saving activities, through the measurement results of the actual power consumption of the new devices and the report of the operation status.
