The Development of Back-Washing Robot

Abstract(in English) This paper presents our research on developing back-washing robot, which is supposed to help people to washing his/her back in bathroom. In Japan washing back is considered good and necessary for sending a health life. However it is now getting difficult to have somebody to help advanced ages to wash their backs, since many of them live alone. For an advanced age, it is a physically harder job to wash back than other parts of body. It is desired that nursing people would provide help, in face there is neither enough nursing people nor enough money. As an alternative to solve this problem, we have been researched on this back-washing robot project since 2007. In this paper, we mainly introduce the most new prototype on its construction, functions, and significant features.
