Abstract(in English) An electric wheelchair is important transportation for physically handicapped person. However, because it is likely to be exposed to the dicey situation by passenger's error in operation and the delay of the judgment, the improvement of operativeness and the safety of an electric wheelchair is important. Then, it aims at the development of voice activated wheelchair that can use the laser range finder for the recognition of the ambient environment, and operate it easily by the voice operation. When developing, the system of wall following where it runs as running assistance along the wall is described in this thesis. And, it depends on actually doing the running control of an electric wheelchair on the passage in the building, and the effectiveness of the proposal system is evaluated.
