Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes a technique for 3D-CG animation system for Japanese fingerspell. We adopted the framework of HMM-based speech synthesis framework for synthesis fingerspell. In this system, a sequence of the parameter represent finger shape and motion which are captured from dataglove devices is modeled in a framework of hidden Markove models (HMMs), and context dependent HMMs are constructed by taking account of contextual factors that affects finger motion. Synthetic fingerspell motion is generated from HMMs themselves by using parameter generation algorithm. In the experiments, we confirmed that smooth and natural trajectory of fingerspell parameter. Also we developed the software for 3D-CG Japanese fingerspell animation.
