Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is a common practice for people with visual impairment to use tactile devices to recognize object. However, it is difficult for them to recognize the detailed shape of object by using tactile devies. To solve these problems, pattern recognition by auditory labels based on the contour chain code is proposed. With a Freeman chain, a shape of object is represented as a sequence of steps in one of eight directions; each step is designated by an integer from 0 to 7. Our proposal method takes advantage of a Freeman chain code in order to present the detailed shape of object. In our proposal method, a Freeman chain is converted to MIDI messages for visual impaired people understanding pattern recognition. This report described effectiveness of our proposal method and its experimental results to study our future works.
